Biography

Marcelo Stegmann is a PhD candidate at the Institute for Implementation Science in Health Care and part of the Digital Society Initiative. In 2023, he completed a Master's degree in Neural and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Tübingen, specializing in sleep and circadian research. Before that, he completed a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Bachelor's degree in International Business at Maastricht University in 2021 and 2019 respectively.

Since August 2024, Marcelo has been part of the Digital and Mobile Health Group, specializing in developing new digital technologies to continuously detect and track fatigue in patients with multiple sclerosis and Long Covid. Although fatigue is one of the symptoms that affect the quality of life of patients with chronic diseases the most, it is often overlooked and neglected in medicine. Using digital biomarkers, subjective patient reports can be supplemented with objective measurements and patients can be treated better. To make this possible, Marcelo is working closely with researchers, doctors, and patients from various medical institutions to develop practical applications that can improve patients' quality of life.
