Dear Colleague(s),

The 4th Swiss Implementation Science Conference will take place on February 12th and 13th, 2026 at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. This conference will focus on True IMPACT – Delivering Innovation for Patients and the Public.

Types of abstracts

We invite you to submit an abstract presenting the findings of your latest implementation science research project, and experience from your latest implementation projects in clinical and other real-life settings.

We welcome submissions on all aspects of implementation science research, such as contextual analysis, patients and the public involvement and engagement research, implementation strategies, measurement of implementation outcomes, and implementation costs.

All types of quantitative and qualitative research, such as

  • citizen science projects
  • hybrid studies
  • systematic or scoping reviews
  • ImpSci methodology

Abstract format guidelines

General requirements:

  • Abstracts must focus on aspects of implementation science.
  • Studies presented in abstracts must adhere to ethical standards and have obtained appropriate ethical approval.
  • Abstracts must be written and, if accepted, presented in English. (Abbreviations should be clarified upon their first appearance.)
  • Abstracts should not include references in the text or at the end.
  • Abstracts should not contain promotional information.

Only one abstract per person can be submitted as the presenting author.

Specific requirements:

  • Abstracts must be structured with the following section headings.
  • Relevance: Highlight the key argument for the relevance of the study for a wider audience of implementers and implementation researchers in healthcare.
  • Aim: State the primary aim of the study.
  • Methods: Describe the study design, participants/cases, measures, and methods of analysis.
  • Results: Include analyses and findings for empirical research; work-in-progress abstracts preliminary results.
  • Discussion & conclusion: State the implications of the findings and their contribution to the state of knowledge.
  • Abstracts must include three to seven keywords at the end.
  • Abstracts should not exceed 2000 characters, excluding the title, authors and affiliations, and keywords.
  • Author details should include first name(s), surname(s), affiliation, city and country. The first author is the presenting author.

Presentation forms

Each accepted abstract must be presented in one of the three formats:

  • Oral presentation: Maximum of 15 minutes in total, including at least 3 minutes reserved for questions by the audience. This format is reserved for abstracts that have empirical results.
  • Poster presentation: A0 portrait printout explain your poster to a group of attendees in 3/4 min. Some will be selected as Poster Flash to be presented in a 2-minute presentation in the plenary session.

You will be informed about the mode of presentation your abstract is accepted for.

Important dates

  • Monday, September 1st, 2025, 23:59, CET: Abstract submission deadline
  • Monday, October 20th, 2025: Decisions will be announced to submitting authors.
  • Abstract presenters must register for the conference before Friday, October 31st, 2025. Unpaid registrations will result in the abstract not being accepted.

Submission process

Please have your abstract ready for submission before entering the portal as changes will only be saved upon clicking submit. After submitting, however, you will be free to edit any part of your abstract up until the submission deadline date by using the amend button, or by logging into your Oxford Abstract account and clicking on the IMPACT2026 Event.

After clicking submit, you will receive a confirmation email. If you can neither find it in the Inbox folder, nor in the Spam folder of your e-mail account, please reach out to us.

Review process

Each abstract will be independently assessed and rated by two reviewers from the Conference program committee and core group members of IMPACT. Differences in scores are subject to a third review if they impact the acceptance or presentation format decisions. The review criteria are based on the “Abstract format guidelines” section.

Student Award Certificate

A Student Award Certificate will be awarded to the presenting author of an exceptional submitted abstract—an early-career PhD or Master's student.

Abstract publications

Accepted abstracts will be published on the conference website.

Originality and copyright transfer statements

By submitting, the first author signs for all co-authors. All listed authors must have reviewed the abstract, and by submitting, they agree to its review by conference reviewers and its publication on the conference’s website.

Conflict of Interest Statement

All authors are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest that might be seen as influencing the content or outcomes of the research. This includes, but is not limited to, financial relationships (e.g., funding, employment, etc.) or personal relationships that could influence the research process. If no conflicts exist, authors must state, "The authors declare no conflict of interest."
